Indiana Attorney General Zoeller proposed the bill in response to the growing data breaches and the estimated 4.5 million records of Inidiana residents exposed during the recent Anthem, Inc. data breach. Highlights of the bill include:
- The requirement the data collectors adhere to safer data storage provisions including the deletion of data that it no longer needs.
- Increased disclosures of what data is being collected and how it's being used.
Indiana Senate Bill 413 is now moving to the House of Representatives for additional consideration.
